Révolution Permanente covers French union bureaucracy’s betrayal of refinery strike

Indeed, Stalinist General Confederation of Labor (CGT) union leader Philippe Martinez has been in constant communication with the government since the strike began. In contrast, the pseudo-left Rvolution Permanente (RP) website, published by the French Morenoite Revolutionary Communist Current (CCR), has promoted illusions in the French union bureaucracies’ intentions to struggle. Expanding such assemblies without fighting for a break from the union bureaucracy is a dead-end for the working class. The refinery workers’ struggle against inflation brings them into struggle against the forces driving it: the NATO-provoked war in Ukraine and the massive bank bailouts during the pandemic. Its efforts to prevent a rank-and-file revolt against the union bureaucracies is the product of its base amongst those very forces.

Brazilian presidential run-off unfolds under shadow of military’s“parallel vote count”

The Brazilian presidential run-off, due to take place on Sunday, October 30, is unfolding under the shadow of an unprecedented “parallel vote count” and “audit” of the country’s electronic voting machines being conducted by the country’s military. As the recent developments clearly expose, such dangers cannot be fought by a vote for the bourgeois opposition to Bolsonaro, that is, Lula and the PT. Now the PT is fully focused on presenting itself as the last line of defense of the police apparatus. He was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2012 for taking part in the scheme himself, leaving prison 15 months later. This means building a Brazilian section of the International Committee of the Fourth International.

Australia steps up anti-China campaign in the Pacific

Its aim was to advance a US-led campaign lining up Pacific Island states behind Washington’s aggressive confrontation with China, which threatens a catastrophic war. A meeting of AUKUS, a pact between the US, Britain and Australia, resolved to ensure that Australia acquired nuclear-powered submarines as rapidly as possible. While the AUSMIN talks centred on the expansion of US basing arrangements in Australia, four full paragraphs of the joint statement were on the Pacific. This year, Washington has announced that the US Coast Guard will participate in a Pacific Maritime Security Program. Palau, with a population of just 18,000, has long been one of the Pacific states that toes Washington’s line.

Kiev kills “hundreds” of Russian recruits in strike with US-supplied missile

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that 63 service members were killed in the strike, while the Ukrainian Ministry of defense claimed that four hundred were killed. In what appeared to be a massive lapse of basic military precautions, hundreds of Russian troops were packed into the same building with an ammunition dump within range of the US-provided HIMARS missiles.
