Technical View | Nifty forms Bearish Belt Hold pattern, consolidation likely to continue before further uptrend

The Nifty50 lost momentum after the initial hour of the rally and remained under pressure throughout the session, forming a bearish candle which resembles a Bearish Belt Hold kind of pattern on the daily charts on October 25. A 'Bearish Belt Hold' pattern is formed when the opening price becomes the highest point of the trading day (intraday high) and the index declines throughout the day making up the large body. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up half a percent and Smallcap 100 index declined 0.1 percent. Over the short term, the trend is expected to remain strong," Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities said. India VIX, which measures the expected volatility in the market, was down by 3.11 percent from 17.42 to 16.88 levels.

Nippon India ETF Nifty 50 BeES (Nifty BeES), India's first-ever ETF scheme, has achieved a milestone of Rs 10,000 crore of Assets Under Management (AUM) recently. Nifty BeES is the third largest Nifty 50 ETF in India followed by SBI Nifty 50 ETF and UTI Nifty 50 ETF. While SBI Nifty 50 ETF and UTI Nifty 50 ETF grew their asset base mainly due to the inflow from EPFO, Nifty BeES gained its assets from the retail and high netwoth individual (HNI) investors. Nifty BeES tracks the Nifty 50 index (N50). Nifty BeES has comprised about three-fourth of the total traded volume of overall Nifty 50 ETFs.

Asked about a potential nuclear escalation around Ukraine, Putin said the danger of nuclear weapons would exist as long as nuclear weapons existed. Putin said he thought constantly of Russian casualties in Ukraine, but avoided getting into detail about what the West says are huge losses. Ultimately, Putin said, the West would have to talk to Russia and other major powers about the future of the world.
