Barnett turned himself in that day after talking with the FBI at the Benton County sheriff's office. Joseph D. McBride said Barnett's testimony is expected to take half a day and will take place today or Thursday. Barnett is one of four witnesses the defense plans to call to the stand. Willett testified that Barnett said investigators wouldn't find anything at his residence, adding that he's a "smart man." Geyer questioned Skoch for a considerable amount of time about the FBI labeling Barnett as a "Tier 1 terrorist" on Jan. 6, 2021.

Last week I reported on an ongoing and informal discussion among Facebook friends responding to my query about their favorite Arkansas writers. For many years Randolph wrote under multiple pen names for Kansas publisher and socialist Emanuel Haldeman-Julius, turning out dozens of titles for Haldeman-Julius' Little Blue Books series. Longtime southeast Arkansas history enthusiast Helen Pennington was one of several who reminded us that U.S. Circuit Judge Morris S. Arnold must be included in any list of outstanding Arkansas writers and historians. I can't leave out Ben Johnson, who retired recently as the Ragsdale Professor of Arkansas History at Southern Arkansas University.

Golden Lions seek to end skid today

Katie Hobbs, who was sworn in this week, was among Democrats who called it a political stunt. Border security was a key issue of Donald Trump's presidency and remains a focus for many Republicans. Hobbs' GOP rival, Kari Lake, campaigned on a promise to dispatch the National Guard to the border on her first day in office. He also argued Arizona had the right to protect its residents from illegal immigration he termed a humanitarian crisis. Nicholls said he is already in talks with the the Hobbs administration about border security, and wants the governor to visit the area.

McIlroy in no mood for niceties in Dubai

Another battle between Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed began to take shape Wednesday. "Patrick came up to say hello and I didn't really want him to," McIlroy said Wednesday. It's clear McIlroy is in no mood for reconciliation in Dubai. "So, McIlroy being upset about being served on Christmas Eve has absolutely nothing to do with Patrick Reed," the statement said. Reed said in Dubai it was "unfortunate" that McIlroy didn't shake his hand.
