Beja nazirs will not participate in Khartoum conference on eastern Sudan

KHARTOUM –Both factions of the High Council of Beja Nazirs and Independent Chieftains refuse to participate in the conference on governance in eastern Sudan starting in Khartoum today. Faki further said that a briefing on the outputs of the Cairo conference and the Beja Nazirs Council’s position will be held in the Friendship Hall on Tuesday. At the time, the Beja Nazirs Council was not included in the negotiations on the eastern Sudanese region. Not much of the JPA, including the Eastern Sudan protocol, has been implemented so far. The Beja Nazirs Council-Tirik wing repeated its threats to announce self-determination for eastern Sudan if the government does not respond to their demands for a separate platform and development in the marginalised eastern region.

Sudan's FFC denies allowing military to escape accountability

Sources within the military and civilian components of Sudan’s political scene recently reported that there was an ‘imminent agreement’ between the FFC-CC and the military, which took power in a coup on October 25 last year. The mainstream Forces for Freedom and Change have received criticism from other opposition groups because of their sympathy towards a power-sharing government with the military. During the talks, the SAF, Sudan’s official military, and the country’s most powerful militia, the infamous RSF, were in direct negotiations with members of the FFC-CC. In the interview with Radio Dabanga, Hassan explained that the FFC-CC seeks to present its vision to all political forces in the country to discuss and express their observations. He stressed that the FFC-CC vision for a political solution is “not sacred, and all comments and additions will be discussed”.
