WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden fired the Architect of the Capitol, Brett Blanton, after a scathing report by the inspector general on his personal and professional management and called for his removal from office. An inspector general’s report released last year found “administrative, ethical and policy violations” by Blanton, a Trump appointee, including his abuses. “The architect of the Capitol, Brett Blanton, no longer gives me the confidence to continue his work. “The Inspector General’s report is very disturbing,” Steil said. Blanton was nominated by Trump in December 2019 as the 12th Architect of the Capitol and confirmed for the position by the United States Senate.
