Delhi Air Quality Reaches 323 From 298 After Diwali; AQI Remains In 'very Poor' Category

Sagar Dangi turned out to be the star for India, bagging a gold and silver in the junior men's 10m Air Pistol team and individual events at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol here on Friday. India now have a tally of 30 medals -- 11 gold, seven silver and 12 bronze -- and sit comfortably behind China in second place in the standings. But, her first round performance in women's 25m Pistol and men's 3P held out hope for more. Dangi and Tomar made it an India 1-2 in qualifications early in the morning with scores of 588 and 583 from the 60-shot round. With Italian Matteo Mastrovalerio having a poor fifth series, Tomar managed to secure his bronze and Dangi went into the gold medal match against the Chinese.

US To Send Ukraine Additional $275 Million In Military Aid

Officials said there are no major new weapons in the U.S. package, which is expected to be announced on Friday. The departments of State, Defense and Commerce are all involved in the accounting process. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Thursday that he expects the U.S. will deliver the highly anticipated advanced NASAM air defense systems to Ukraine early next month and train troops on them. The U.S. had committed to delivering two of the medium-range, surface-to-air missile systems to Ukraine soon. Including the new $275 million, the U.S. has now committed nearly $18 billion in weapons and other equipment to Ukraine since the war began on Feb. 24.

Rebels Kill 2 Soldiers In Quake-hit Philippine Province

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Suspected communist rebels killed two soldiers in an attack Thursday in a northern Philippine province where troops are helping residents recover from a strong earthquake, the military said. The attack by suspected New People’s Army guerrillas in Malibcong town in Abra province also injured one soldier and left another missing, military officials said. There was no immediate reaction from the communist guerrillas. The military also reported a separate clash that killed two of at least seven communist guerrillas on Wednesday in the eastern province of Camarines Sur. The Davao region, one of the most economically vibrant in the country's south, was deeply battered by the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns.
