Classifications could expand under new proposal Published 10:08 am Wednesday, January 25, 2023There are currently four classifications for high school sports in North Carolina. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association is expected to hold a vote of all 432 member schools next month to change their bylaws to add classifications. “I think it’s a great idea, but the hard part is getting every school to vote,” Washington High School football coach Perry Owens said. We need to adapt to the growth we’ve seen.”Changing the bylaws to allow more classifications requires 75 % of member schools to vote in favor of the proposal. The majority of the schools who voted supported expanding the classifications, but not enough schools participated, so the proposal failed.

In the first generation of America’s explorers in space, James McDivitt was neither the best known nor the most accomplished among his fellow astronauts. He compiled few personal firsts in his years of service to the space program. He was in the second intake of NASA astronauts, in 1962. When he died in Tucson, Arizona, last week at age 93, McDivitt had been out of the space program, and largely out of the public eye, for nearly a half-century. So, fortunately, I liked it!”Whatever the Air Force saw in McDivitt was amply rewarded.3 months ago Washington Examiner
And that is due almost entirely to the campaign finance laws of the past 50 years. Thus was born the modern campaign finance regime, under which our politics still operates. But as with so much in the last 30 years, the excesses of Bill Clinton proved to be a decisive moment in campaign finance. Clinton being Clinton, he covered his political tracks by decrying the abuses of campaign finance and calling for reform. Once connected to the Keating Five Scandal of the 1980s, McCain had rebranded himself in the 1990s as a campaign finance purist.3 months ago Washington Examiner
The legacy press is as panicked as the Democratic Party regarding the GOP's chances of electoral success in the 2022 midterm elections. And don’t pretend for a minute as if this type of coverage cuts both ways. The paper would never publish such a thing regarding a Democratic politician, even though it’s a factually true statement. It’s patronizing to voters, downplaying their real-life hardships, and it’s a disservice to CNN’s audience, which deserves better than misleading and obtuse news coverage. Burns’s remark regarding Fetterman’s mental acuity was met with a swift and furious rebuke from Democratic voters, Democratic operatives, and, most importantly, members of the press.3 months ago Washington Examiner
OPINION:One of the most hypocritical and downright diabolical facets of the pro-abortion lobby is the penchant some of its adherents have for exulting pro-abortion narratives, lionizing these stories into hero narratives while excluding divergent experiences. The latest example of this ideological madness surrounds “Blonde,” a film about Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe streaming on Netflix. One scene, in particular, shows Monroe’s unborn baby speaking to her — something that apparently crosses a line for some critics. But that’s just the thing: Many people have never seen themselves on screen, as they’re forced to suffer in silence. It’s far past time to dismantle the lie that everyone is content with their decision to abort.3 months ago Washington Times
