Miles Teller on his role as Rooster in “Top Gun: Maverick”

“Top Gun: Maverick” has made a lot of headlines since its release on May 27 of this year. On Tuesday, actor Miles Teller, starring as Rooster, made an appearance at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. The 2022 film “Top Gun: Maverick” is set thirty years into Maverick’s career as a fighter pilot. That’s where he meets Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), nicknamed “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend, Nick Bradshaw. While “Top Gun: Maverick” is not free of criticism, it is rated 8.4/10 on IMDb and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

100 years of Texas Parks and Wildlife

Inks Lake State Park is one of several Texas State Parks in the Highland Lakes celebrating the Texas Parks and Wildlife's 100-year anniversary in 2023. Staff photo by Dakota MorrissieyThe Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is celebrating 100 years in 2023 with fun activities planned at parks across the state, including several in the Highland Lakes. And in 1923, the State Parks Board was created as a separate entity — and the countdown to 100 years began. It wasn’t until 1963 when the Legislature decided to merge the State Parks Board and the Game and Fish Commission that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department was created. The department is also hosting a traveling art exhibit with pieces depicting the beauty of Texas State Parks.

Washington Nationals find Success in First Draft Lottery

The first-year player draft has become much easier for the Nationals now obtaining the second overall selection, only behind the Pittsburgh Pirates, although there is certainly more pressure on Mike Rizzo to have success in the 2023 MLB Draft. The Washington Nationals have a history of drafting pitchers with their top overall pick, selecting them from 2017-2020 and 2012-2014. The second overall pick is a great place for Mike Rizzo and his staff to locate it.

Another Christmas Market will be held from Friday, 2 December, to Sunday, 4 December, at Mansfield Museum, with over 35 traders expected to take stalls. They can be dropped off until Monday 28 November at: the Old Town Hall; Civic Corner café, Mansfield Civic Centre; Four Seasons Shopping Centre; Ravensdale Children’s Centre; Mansfield Woodhouse Children’s Centre; Ladybrook Children’s Centre; Warsop Children’s Centre; Mansfield Museum; and Smyths Toys, Portland Retail Park, Mansfield. The presents will be distributed, through Mansfield Children’s Centre Service and Family Action FOOD Clubs, to families and people in need in time for Christmas.

Boys basketball: Monster second half lifts Lakers over Lumberjacks

The 89 points allowed, which included 50 in the second half, stand as the most for BHS since surrendering 96 to Columbia Heights last season. Yet the Lakers were persistent, closing the first half on a 7-1 run and building back up a 39-33 advantage by halftime. Isaac Severts took over early in the second half, scoring the first 13 points of the half for BHS (2-3). Volleyball: Detroit Lakes gets top seed in 8-3A playoffs, area teams seeded

Perham earned the second seed in the south with a 14-14 record, including a 9-2 mark in 8-2A. Thief River Falls finished right behind the Rams with the second seed at 11-15 and will host Crookston (2-21). Hillcrest Lutheran Academy claimed the second seed with a record of 20-3, followed by Breckenridge (21-5) in third. Ada-Borup-West got the second seed at 21-6. Pequot Lakes (24-4) also gets a bye as the second seed.

South Warwickshire Local Plan – Issues and Options Consultation

New consultation for the South Warwickshire Plan on Issues and Options will run from Monday 9 January to Monday 6 March 2023. Following agreement by Councillors from Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils last month, residents, businesses and other stakeholders are invited to have their say on the next stage of the new South Warwickshire Local Plan, which will cover the combined geographic area of both Councils for the next 25 years. The ‘Issues and Options’ Consultation which runs from 9 January to 6 March 2023, focuses specifically on the options for how and where development should take place. "This is important stuff for us all so I hope as many residents, business and stakeholders take time to comment on the areas that matter most to them.”You can find out more information about the South Warwickshire Local Plan, make comment on the latest consultation and find details of a number of online and face to face consultation events being held by visiting the South Warwickshire Local Plan website.
