CLEVELAND -- Darius Garland scored 32 points shortly after being left off the All-Star team and carried Cleveland following Donovan Mitchell's ejection, leading the Cavaliers to a 128-113 victory over the slumping Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night. Mitchell, voted an All-Star starter last week, was tossed in the third quarter for throwing the ball at Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks after the pair tangled under the basket. Cedi Osman scored 21 points and Jarrett Allen added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Cleveland. Bam Adebayo finished with 32 points and nine rebounds for the Heat, while Herro scored 25 points and Strus had 17. Nikola Vucevic added 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Andre Drummond had 15 points and 11 rebounds.

And the S&P 500 remains solidly on track to end October in the green. The Hornets won the opener, 17-14, over the Eagles and advanced to the area round with a 34-14 win over Troup. Harmony beat New Waverly, 25-20, in the bi-district round and is scoring 33.8 points while giving up 27.8 points per game. DeKalb (9-2) vs. Daingerfield (9-2)SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas -- A pair of 9-2 teams clash in this area game, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sulphur Springs' Gerald Prim Stadium. New Boston (6-5) vs. Newton (10-1)HENDERSON, Texas -- New Boston notched its first playoff win since 2014 last week with a 59-35 victory over Grand Saline.

James helps Lakers stop 4-game slide with win over Magic

ORLANDO, Fla. -- LeBron James scored 28 points, Russell Westbrook had a triple-double and the Los Angeles Lakers stopped a four-game slide, beating the Orlando Magic 129-110 on Tuesday night. Thomas Bryant added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, who shot 54.4% from the field. Magic rookie Paolo Banchero finished with four points and five fouls while spending most of his 22 minutes guarding James. Lonnie Walker IV scored eight points during a 10-1 run late in the first half that lifted the Lakers to a 16-point lead. After Banchero and Mo Wagner got into foul trouble early in the fourth quarter, James scored 10 points -- all inside -- to help Los Angeles maintain its double-digit lead.

Morant hands out career-best 17 assists in Grizzlies' win

TORONTO -- Ja Morant had a career-high 17 assists and scored 19 points and the Memphis Grizzlies won for the first time in three games, beating the struggling Toronto Raptors 119-106 on Thursday night. Dillon Brooks scored 25 points, Desmond Bane had 16 before fouling out and Steven Adams had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Pascal Siakam had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto before fouling out, extending his career-best streak with 25 or more to six. The Grizzlies came in having lost four of five, but beat Toronto by outscoring the Raptors 70-50 on points in the paint. Washington added 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting and Charlotte got a huge game from rookie center Mark Williams with career highs of 17 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two blocks.

Prescott has 2 TD passes, Cowboys top banged-up Titans 27-13

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys know they have some things to clean up. Prescott threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns to Dalton Schultz and the Cowboys beat the banged-up and resting Tennessee Titans 27-13 on Thursday night for their sixth win in seven games. Prescott capped a 75-yard drive with his second TD pass to Schultz for a 24-13 lead early in the fourth. Prescott took advantage of the ailing Titans defense, finding CeeDee Lamb for 11 catches for 100 yards. Titans defensive back Andrew Adams hurt his right knee on Schultz's second TD catch and was carted to the locker room.
