Haliburton named Eastern Conference All-Star Game reserve

Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton earned his first NBA All-Star selection on Thursday. Haliburton rounds out the Eastern Conference roster as a reserve along with Joel Embiid, Bam Adebayo, Boston's Jaylen Brown, Chicago's DeMar DeRozan, Milwaukee's Jrue Holiday and New York's Julius Randle for the Feb. 19 All-Star Game in Salt Lake City. Throughout the first half of the season Haliburton has averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game, 10.2 assists per game and 1.8 steals a game. Philadelphia's Embiid, Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Portland's Damian Lillard had to have known they were going to the All-Star Game. All-Star Saturday — featuring the 3-point contest, dunk contest and skills competition — takes center stage the next night, followed by the 72nd All-Star Game on Sunday.

Pacers open five-game road trip with 120-106 loss to 76ers

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — James Harden and the 76ers watched plenty of their bad plays on film during recent practices. Harden had 29 points and 11 assists, and Joel Embiid scored 26 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to their first win of the season, 120-106 over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Embiid dropped 40 points in a loss to San Antonio as the Sixers still joined Orlando as the only East teams at 0-3. The Pacers did have a 30-30 fourth against the 76ers but they could not stop Harden. UP NEXTPacers: Continue their road with games against Chicago (Wednesday), Washington (Friday), and consecutive games in Brooklyn on Saturday and Monday.

(AP) — DK Metcalf caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith with 36 seconds to play, and the Seattle Seahawks overcame an inspired performance by Bobby Wagner for a 27-23 victory over the spiraling Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Tyler Lockett and Noah Fant caught early TD passes from Smith in the most prolific game of the quarterback's decade in the NFL. Metcalf had eight catches for 127 yards, and Lockett had nine receptions for a season-high 128 yards as the Seahawks sent defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles (3-9) to its sixth straight defeat. After Akers scored on the Rams' opening drive, Seattle made two long scoring drives ending in TD catches by Lockett and Fant. Los Angeles nearly kept pace offensively with an opponent for the first time in many weeks, but couldn't turn its drives into touchdowns.

Jokic, Murray help Nuggets top Mitchell-less Cavs 121-108

DENVER (AP) — Nikola Jokic had 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, Jamal Murray scored 18 points in his first back-to-back games since knee surgery, and the Denver Nuggets took advantage of Donovan Mitchell's absence to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-108 on Friday night. Jokic hit 10 of 17 shots, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range in his NBA-leading 10th triple-double of the season. Mitchell sat out to rest four days after scoring 71 points in an overtime win over Chicago. Murray missed all of last season with a torn left ACL, and Nuggets coach Michael Malone called Murray playing on consecutive days "uncharted territory."
