Andrew Beamer, who tilts conservative, won Northcrest Ward with the largest majority of any ward councillor. Overall, the results indicate voters’ desire for a council that brings both new ideas and a less confrontational style. Leal has promised a streamlined housing approval process and a deal with Cavan Monaghan Township to expand the city’s border. Raiders focus on coaches’ grades rather than other resources

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Last year and at the start of this season, Las Vegas Raiders second-year linebacker Divine Deablo used to focus on analytical websites, paying attention to his grades. ‘The coaches put you on the field, they expect you to play at a certain level.”A level Deablo is living up to. While Deablo ranks 55th out of 79 linebackers on Pro Football Focus’ grading scale, he’s ranked first on the Raiders, and 15th in the league, with 59 combo tackles, and second with 29 solo tackles. “Unless people know the actual scheme, they know a playbook, they know a play you called, they know everything ... you can get caught up into it. “My coaches grade me, my defensive coordinator grades me, my head coach grades me — I take those grades seriously.”Harmon reiterated Perryman’s point, saying all he is concerned with is doing what the coaches are asking him to do.

Trent Jr. scores 27 points and Raptors beat struggling 76ers 119-109

TORONTO - Gary Trent Jr. scored 27 points while Pascal Siakam had 20 points and 13 assists and the Toronto Raptors beat the struggling Philadelphia 76ers 119-109 on Wednesday. Six Raptors scored in double figures. A running reverse layup from Dalano Banton capped a 22-8 Raptors run that saw them go up by 17 points. The Sixers closed the half with a mini 13-6 run, and Toronto went into the break with a 63-53 lead. UP NEXTThe Raptors play the Sixers again at home on Friday.

The recall at Costco involves Unreal Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars (Costco Item #1268728) sold at a Costco warehouses in Canada between Sept. 21 and Oct. 20, 2022, due to potential Salmonella contamination. Unreal Brands has received no reports of illnesses with the Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars. "If you believe you have the Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars in your possession, do not consume it. The recalled product has lead and phthalates (DEHP) above the allowable limits, Health Canada said. The baby blankets have loose threads that may present entrapment, strangulation and choking hazards, Health Canada said in its warning to shoppers.

Ontario education workers file strike notice again, say talks broke down

Laura Walton, the president of CUPE’s Ontario School Board Council of Unions, said the agreement on wages was “a win,” though still “not enough.”“This was never just about wages,” Walton said at a press conference. “A wage increase doesn’t help if you’re going to lose your job. A wage increase isn’t going to help when you have school boards that are finding ways to get rid of people. The government put forward multiple improved offers and repealed previous legislation that imposed a contract on the workers, Lecce said. In 2019, CUPE and the government reached a last-minute deal the day before workers had been set to go on a full strike.

Fewer eligible voters cast valid ballots in 2022

In 2014, 41.49 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots for mayor and 16 ward councillors. That number dropped, along with the number of ward councillors - only eight jobs were up for grabs - to 38.05 per cent in 2018. More electors opted to vote in advance of the Oct. 22, 2018 election day (23,632) than this year (17,197). That number is also higher regarding councillors with 453 uncredited ballots for 2022 versus 365 in 2018. Emmett Yeo, who was re-elected in Ward 1 earned 46.82 per cent of the votes in 2018 and 44.23 per cent this year.
