Ukrainians hold out in east, prepare battle for Kherson

Ukrainian troops are holding out against repeated attacks by Russian forces in two eastern towns while those on the southern front are poised to battle for the strategic Kherson region, which Russia appears to be reinforcing. Russian forces have repeatedly tried to seize Bakhmut, which sits on a main road leading to the Ukrainian-held cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. The looming battle for Kherson city at the mouth of the Dnipro River will determine whether Ukraine can loosen Russia's grip on the south. Radio intercepts indicated freshly mobilised recruits had been sent to the front and Russian forces were firmly dug in. Ukrainian forces advanced along the Dnipro in a dramatic push in the south at the start of this month, but progress appears to have slowed.

RAWALPINDI: While expressing its annoyance at the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab chief, Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday remarked that the institution has become a “political tool”. The remarks were passed by the LHC's Rawalpindi bench when it heard the case filed by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah against his arrest warrants issued by ACE Punjab. “Tell the court if you wish to arrest Rana Sanaullah or not,” asked the court. Upon hearing this, the court sent Rana Sanaullah's case to a trial court, adding that the minister can file an application for acquittal under 249A.

South Korean officials believe the ICBM failed in flight, Yonhap news agency reported, without elaborating. North Korea has had several failed ICBM tests this year, according to South Korean and US officials. The United States condemned North Korea's ICBM launch, State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement. About an hour after the first launch, South Korea's military and the Japanese coast guard reported a second and third launch from North Korea. At least 5 dead, 10 injured after twin blasts strike Balochistan

According to security officials, the injured have been shifted to hospital, among them, five remain in critical condition. Earlier today, a grenade blast across the Shaheed Ameer Dasti police station at Sabzal Road in Quetta left four people injured including a woman and a little girl, the police said. The police said they are determining the nature of the blast while those injured were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital in the city. CondemnationBalochistan Chief Minister Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has condemned the Sabzal Road grenade attack and expressed concerns for the injured. Home Minister Ziaullah Langoo also strongly condemned the grenade explosion prayed for early recovery of those injured in the attack.
