WASHINGTON — The House Jan. 6 committee voted Monday to recommend that the Justice Department pursue a batch of criminal charges against former President Donald Trump for his role in an effort to overturn the 2020 election and the fomenting of a deadly mob at the Capitol. Responding to the criminal referral, Eastman said the Jan. 6 panel had failed to address gaps in Capitol security and the electoral system and instead chose to focus on a “pretend” criminal case. The Department of Justice has launched an investigation into classified documents from Joe Biden‘s Vice Presidency found in a Washington D.C. office for his think tank. It is unclear what the classified documents contain, but follows the raid on Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago resort last year and comes as Republicans begin their investigations into the Biden family. The report stated that the documents were found while Biden’s attorneys were packing up the office to leave. More than 300 classified documents were recovered from Trump’s Palm Beach estate. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was the center’s Managing Director in 2018 while top White House aide Steve Richetti was managing director in 2019.
