On Friday, a Miami judge dismissed the case, ruling that the statewide prosecutor didn’t have jurisdiction. Earlier this year, Florida’s GOP-led legislature created an Office of Election Crimes and Security at the governor’s request. All of those arrested had been previously convicted of murder or a felony sex offense. Larry Davis, an attorney for Woods, said his client was “very happy and relieved” the charges were dismissed.

Rapidly intensifying Roslyn to hit Mexico as major hurricane on Sunday

It wasn’t until 11 p.m. Eastern time Friday that Rosslyn became a hurricane, but it rapidly intensified into a major hurricane, defined as Category 3 or higher, just six hours later Saturday morning. By midmorning Eastern time Saturday, Roslyn had winds of 120 mph, and was located a little more than 150 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. While Roslyn will be in the midst of a gradual weakening trend, winds gusting near 120 mph are still possible at the immediate shoreline. Storm surge risk is generally lesser on Mexico’s west coast than its Gulf Coast because the slope of the continental shelf is more abrupt. “This rainfall could lead to flash flooding and landslides in areas of rugged terrain,” the Hurricane Center wrote.

Malinin's quad axel lifts 17-year-old to Skate America title

Malinin landed the first quad axel at a lower-level event in Lake Placid, New York, but he was noncommittal when he was asked about bringing it out at Skate America. Malinin followed with a quad toe loop, a quad lutz, a quad salchow and another quad lutz, done in combination with a triple salchow on which he finally fell. In the pairs event, Knierim and Frazier opened well with their signature triple twist, and their landed a clean triple toe loop-double toe loop combination. The highlight was a big opening triple flip, though she underrotated a triple loop on her triple-triple combination later in the program and that was enough to leave her in second place.
