He is set to leave Japanese club NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes and has been linked with French giants Toulon. The same cannot be said about the depth at outside centre, though, where the injured Lukhanyo Am has left a massive hole. Stormers centre Ruhan Nel is still out injured, and that leaves Lions upstart Henco van Wyk as a serious candidate to get a Bok call-up. “If you look at our centres since 2018, we basically used four centres – Damian (de Allende) and Andre Esterhuizen at 12, and Lukhanyo and Jesse at 13. Sacha played well at 12, Henco played well at 13, Marius Louw played well at 12 – Cornal (Hendricks) them are playing well.1 month ago IOL
Self-taught businessman and auctioneer Rael Levitt recently launched a book titled "It Takes a Tsunami". In this book, Levitt shares a personal story of facing adversity and coming out better on the other side, carrying the message "people develop most during rough times". The book also shared how Levitt survived a Boxing Day tsunami while on vacation in Thailand in 2004. “The first issue that the book reveals is that vendor bidding or what some call ‘ghost bidding’ is dealt with in the book. Forgiving yourself and then other people is one of them.” Levitt said the book is aimed at several audiences.1 day ago IOL

Therein lies the rub – to finance South Africa’s ambitious social programme, we need revenues, which are largely absent due to the lack of economic growth. Transnet has recently emerged from a damaging strike, and its output levels are not allowing South Africa to take full advantage of the commodities boom. In the revitalised National Youth Service, high-impact and innovative Non-Governmental Organisations are working with young people to amplify community programmes funded through the government. Now, more than ever, we need to focus on resilience – not just celebrating the endurance of crises alone.1 month ago IOL
File Picture Manganye said the ANC supported the calling of the meeting to mull over another motion of no confidence against Phalatse. “Mpho Phalatse will once again be the former mayor and I hope, this time, she will update her Twitter account and write it ‘former mayor’,” he said. Story continues below AdvertisementIt was the sudden diagnosis by (ironically) a South African scientist of the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 that had the tourists pushing the panic buttons. It also reminded me of how in 1993, mighty New South Wales called off a Super 10 visit to Durban because they feared “unrest” would put their lives at risk. The annual Sharkfest had been arranged for this plum fixture against the Irish giants and the Stadium was bedecked in all its finery. In fact, with all the cancelled entertainment, catering and lost ticket sales, Sharks CEO Ed Coetzee believes they lost R2-million. That kind of medical muscle and ammunition could have got some of the Ulster players ready to play and why couldn’t they fly in healthy reinforcements from Belfast?1 month ago IOL
London — Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United are locked in a stand-off after Erik ten Hag punished the star for his Tottenham tantrum by dropping him from the squad for Saturday's clash with Chelsea. Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Napoli were other clubs linked with a player entering the twilight of his career. Ronaldo is understood to have alienated dressing room allies after his touchline tantrum and has reportedly been critical of Ten Hag's training methods. With that in mind, resurrecting a move to the Gulf could be on the agenda for Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes. If Ronaldo cannot find a suitable new club, would he be willing to stay at United in a bid to repair his tarnished reputation?1 month ago IOL
