Facebook is a powerful fundraising tool for Trump's 2024 campaignWhether or how Trump will return to posting on Facebook is unclear. He has not resumed posting on Twitter and has an agreement with Truth Social to post there first. Meta's decision to reinstate Trump lands in a social media landscape that has changed markedly in the past two years. For example, it could make those posts only visible if a user went directly to Trump's Facebook page. Since his removal from mainstream social media, Trump has used Truth Social as his main mouthpiece.

Streak of brutal weather continues in California with more storms this week

The National Weather Service says California is in the middle of two major episodes of rain taking place "in quick succession" on Monday and Tuesday. And Northern California will face a third batch of rain on Wednesday. More than six feet of snow is expected to pile on the Sierra Nevada mountains in northern California up until Wednesday — increasing the risk of avalanches. Early in-person voting underway in Wisconsin

In-person early voting began Tuesday in battleground Wisconsin amid ongoing lawsuits affecting which ballots can be counted or tossed, recently ordered bans on drop boxes, and restrictions on who can return ballots. Feitlinger said he worries that voters will be confused about the absentee voting process. The Wisconsin Supreme Court in July banned absentee ballot drop boxes located anywhere other than in a local election clerk’s office. A judge sided with Republicans in another lawsuit ruling that election clerks are not permitted to fill in missing witness address information. Early voting locations and hours vary across the state, but the window to allow the option runs from Tuesday through Nov. 6.

Wisconsin appeals court won't block ballot spoiling ban

A Wisconsin appeals court is refusing to block a lower court's ruling banning the practice known as ballot spoiling, which allows voters who already submitted an absentee ballot to void it and vote again. The bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission scheduled an emergency meeting for Friday afternoon to react to the ruling, which comes less than two weeks before the Nov. 8 election. Wisconsin voters have been submitting absentee ballots by mail for weeks and in person since Monday. Nor does it prevent a single voter—Democrat, Republican, or otherwise—from casting a ballot in the upcoming election,” the appeals court said. The appeals court noted that state law does allow for a clerk to issue a new ballot if a voter returns a “spoiled or damaged absentee ballot.” But the law does not appear to authorize a clerk to spoil a ballot that's already been cast and issue a new one, the appeals court said.
