FIRST ON FOX: Montana’s Republican Senator Steve Daines sent a letter to the Department of Defense (DOD) demanding answers on the suspected Chinese spy balloon spotted above his state. Daines sent a late letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday amid reports of the suspected surveillance balloon over U.S. airspace. US GOVERNMENT MONITORING SUSPECTED CHINESE SPY BALLOON OVER NORTHERN STATESDaines wrote that given "the serious nature of the event," he is "requesting a full security briefing from the administration on this situation." Daines’ letter comes as the U.S. government monitor a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that has been moving over northern states over the past several days. Advocates, however, argue that such care is life-saving since untreated trans youth face higher rates of depression and suicide. Winn argued that a narrative has been established that encourages mental health professionals to accept a child's trans identity without scrutiny, leaving potential mental illnesses untreated. "Many of my colleagues have abandoned our duty of care, either due to ignorance or cowardice," she told Fox News. Rather than immediately affirming, mental health professionals should perform an assessment and investigate how long the child has experienced dysphoria and how mental health issues or life changes might be contributing, she said.
