WASHINGTON DC — A sweeping new exhibition on “Scripture and Science” opened last week in the nation’s capital at the Museum of the Bible. Tracing the development of science over two millennia, the exhibition challenges the popular misconception that the relationship between the Bible and science has been dominated by conflict rather than cooperation. “And we show how Biblical faith in doing so left an imprint on the development of science itself.”Far from being an impediment to science, the Bible encouraged and nourished science, according to the exhibition. A theme running throughout the exhibition is how often the teachings of the Bible and the findings of science have converged in interesting ways. As the exhibition points out, humans are rational beings, whose use of symbolic language outstrips anything seen in other animals.
This fossil most likely belongs to the ornithocheirid species Ludodactylus sibbicki, which is otherwise only known from the holotype specimen (Frey et al. Pterosaurs are believed to be relatives to Late Triassic “reptiles” like Lagerpetidae (Ezcurra et al. 2020, Kammer et al. 2020, Baron 2021), and the enigmatic Scleromochlus (Benton 1999, Bennett 2020, Foffa et al. Therefore, the abrupt origin of pterosaurs clearly points to intelligent design as the best explanation.3 months ago Evolution News

A collaboration took place among Bacon, two Durham University profs, and one from University College London then working out birth cycles for similar animals today. It would rewrite the origins of, well, writing, which is one of the most important developments in human history. The find certainly challenges the idea that human consciousness underwent a long, slow evolution in recent millennia. Science writer Michael Marshall reports that some researchers are accused of banning others from taking samples that would prove a Neanderthal was the artist.20 days ago Evolution News
NANCY CARTWRIGHT, “PHYSICS CAN’T DEAL WITH REALITY’S COMPLEXITY” AT IAI. Physics sets itself a harder goal: showing the numbers (serious numbers, not pop stats) and a rigorous theory behind them. The idea of physics as queen of all that happens has powerful implications about just what the world we live in must be like. NANCY CARTWRIGHT, “PHYSICS CAN’T DEAL WITH REALITY’S COMPLEXITY” AT IAI. Both England and Australia have two points from two matches as both currently sit outside the top two spots on a log-jammed Group 1 standings. In the 1980s, underrepresented minorities comprised less than 4% of the Biology master’s students at SF State. Financial incentives are important“The program [Bridges] gives them some minimal funding but enough so [students] can focus on their studies,” Bayliss explained. While Ph.D. science students may receive a yearly stipend, there are far fewer opportunities for such funding for master’s students. (M.S., ’12) partly came to SF State because he knew about Bridges and other support for master’s students. The authentic care and education at SF State is key to giving a more diverse group of budding scientists the opportunity to blossom.3 months ago News
