Peoria Police Department / Facebook(PEORIA, Ill.) — Police are hunting for a person involved in a suspected arson attack at a Planned Parenthood clinic in central Illinois just two days after the state enacted sweeping abortion protections into law. The building, which houses the Peoria Planned Parenthood Clinic, sustained “significant damage,” according to a statement from Jennifer Welch, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois, which was obtained by WLS. The arson attack on the Planned Parenthood clinic came just two days after Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed comprehensive reproductive health care legislation into law that protects out-of-state abortion seekers and allows them to get an abortion. “We would never condone violence against any Planned Parenthood or any other abortion clinic,” Mary Kate Zander, executive director of the anti-abortion organization Illinois Right to Life, told WLS.

Students in Texas are being sent home with child ID kits - WEIS

Dallas ISD(NEW YORK) — Students in K-8 schools in Texas are being sent home with child identification kits, meant to help identify kids in the unlikely event they go missing, get abducted, or are trafficked. Texas Senate Bill 2158 mandates the Texas Education Agency provide “inkless, in-home fingerprint and DNA identification kits” such as the kits from the National Child Identification Program to kindergarten, elementary and middle school students and their parents or custodians. In an email to GMA, the Safety Blitz Foundation said it had partnered with the state of Texas to send out more than 3.8 million child ID kits so far this year. Dallas Independent School District, the second largest school district in Texas, said it received 92,400 kits from the TEA and began distributing the kits this week. The timing of the kits’ distribution comes just four months after the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which resulted in the deaths of 19 students and two teachers.

DOJ decided not to have FBI agents monitor Biden lawyers’ search for more documents: Sources - WEIS

Win McNamee/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — The Justice Department considered but decided against sending FBI agents to President Joe Biden’s Delaware home to monitor his attorneys’ search for classified documents, two sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. Both the president’s attorneys and the Justice Department agreed to instead have Biden’s lawyers conduct the searches for classified documents, according to the sources. It was something both sides agreed to, sources said, in part because Biden and his attorneys were cooperating with the Justice Department. In three separate searches, Biden’s lawyers found classified documents at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, and post-vice presidential office in Washington, D.C., according to the White House. The Justice Department and the FBI are declining to comment on the discussions.

What to know about RSV, one of the main viruses causing pediatric hospitals to fill to capacity - WEIS

ABC News(NEW YORK) — Many pediatric hospitals across the country are experiencing a surge in patients, and one of the main reasons, experts say, is an increase in cases of the respiratory virus known as RSV. RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms, but it can become serious, especially for infants. One parent, Jeff Green, said he noticed his 4-month-old daughter Lindy was sleeping “pretty much nonstop” after contracting RSV. “Not only are we seeing more viruses, we are seeing them sooner than we typically see them in cold and flu season,” Dr. Lauren Mientkiewicz, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, told ABC News. At-home care for kids with RSV can include Tylenol and Motrin for fevers, as well as making sure the child is hydrated and eating.

The approval rating of President Joe Biden — an indicator of Democrat’s election prospects — has tracked closely with gas prices. Republican incumbent Senator Ron Johnson, first elected in 2010, has attributed the high gas prices to spending increases and environmentally friendly initiatives supported by Democrats. Gas prices in Ohio stand at $3.71, nearly 10 cents below the national average. CaliforniaCalifornia, the state with the highest gas prices, could determine which party retains control of the House of Representatives.

Officers responded to the scene and learned that several items had been taken from the property the night before. Hobbs, 52, has declined to debate her Republican opponent, saying she feels it wouldn’t be worthwhile. DeMont said the intimidation “won’t work” and that Hobbs “will win this race.”The Arizona Democratic Party was also quick to point the finger at Lake. “I can’t believe that she would blame my amazing people or blame me for something like that,” Lake added.
