Toronto FC returns to Major League Soccer action on Saturday, paying a visit to Wayne Rooney’s DC United. The Reds will hope to put a disappointing 2022 season in the rearview in their first competitive match of the calendar year. There is plenty of soccer to play before then though, with Toronto FC set to compete on several fronts in 2023. To say Matt Hedges believes in this Toronto FC team would be an understatement:"I think we can be a fantastic team. Alphonso Davies leaves Bayern Munich game clutching right hamstring

The severity of the injury is as yet unknown, but Davies suffered a mild hamstring injury last year and only missed a week. Until recently, the risk of holding the World Cup in mid-season, and the toll injuries would take was not widely discussed. Despite Canada’s success in the Octagonal with Davies absent, including sweeping all nine points in the January window, CONCACAF’s quality is not on par with Canada’s World Cup opposition. Toronto FC has found its new starting goalkeeper. “Sean is among the top goalkeepers in MLS, and we are thrilled he has chosen Toronto FC as his new club,” said Toronto FC President Bill Manning. “Sean continues to demonstrate his elite shot-stopping ability, athleticism, and decision-making in important moments and the biggest games.”With Alex Bono and Quentin Westberg both departing Toronto following the 2022 MLS season, Toronto has undeniably been in the market for a new starting goalie.
