Canadian women’s soccer team on strike citing equal pay issues, budget cuts

Less than one week before they are scheduled to play in the SheBelieves Cup in the United States, the Canadian women’s national soccer team have announced that they are on strike. The team’s strike comes after budget cuts, pay equity issues, and lack of support from the Canada Soccer federation. The women’s team has demanded the same budget the men’s team received last year to get ready for the World Cup in Qatar. The women’s World Cup takes place in New Zealand this summer. Canada Soccer will not agree to a deal without it,” the federation said.

Two million popular air fryer models are being recalled

Two million Cosori air fryers are being recalled after their wire connections caused hundreds of them to overheat and catch fire. The company has received 205 reports of air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating or smoking. The CPSC announced the recall Thursday with the agency warning consumers that they should stop using the air fryers immediately. About 250,000 air fryers in Canada and 21,000 air fryers in Mexico have also been recalled. If you have one of these air fryers, it is recommended you stop using it immediately.

The entertainment giant got ahead of an announcement by activist investor Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management, saying it had rejected Peltz’s attempt to join the board.
