I don’t want to be (at the All-Star Game) for just one year.”We’ll assume Siakam still feels the same away. When Siakam was named an Eastern starter in 2020, it marked the sixth straight All-Star Game in which a Raptor was on the court for the opening tip. “To be honest, I see more championships, I see MVP, I see so much more that I can accomplish,” Siakam said in 2020.

UN ready to vote on sanctions against Haitian gang leader

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. Security Council planned to vote Friday on a resolution that would demand an immediate end to violence and criminal activity in Haiti and impose sanctions on a powerful gang leader. Also dropped was mention of an Oct. 8 letter from U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres outlining options to help Haiti’s National Police combat high levels of gang violence. A second resolution, which was still being worked on late Thursday, would address the issue of combating Haiti’s violence. The sanctions resolution being put to a vote Friday named only a single Haitian — Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier, whose gang has blocked a key fuel terminal leading to severe shortages. The resolution, however, would also establish a Security Council committee to impose sanctions on other Haitian individuals and groups whose actions threaten the peace, security or stability of the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation.

“One has to question whether paying more than $30 million and counting for external legal and financial advisers would not have been better spent on educating students,” wrote Bonnie Lysyk in the report released Thursday. There was every reason to think Saturday’s noon start for the Raptors and Detroit Pistons would be an ugly one. A Raptors team that seems to have found its groove with seven wins in its last eight games should beat a Pistons team that occupies last place in the Eastern Conference fully on merit. Even without Fred VanVleet, who missed his second straight game for personal reasons, the Raptors are significantly more talented than the Pistons.
