We’ve known for quite a while — both unofficially and officially — that Steph Curry would be representing the Golden State Warriors at the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. Not only was Curry the only Warriors player named a starter, but they don’t have any reserves, either. Andrew Wiggins started the year at an All-Star pace, but injuries and sickness cost him time and performance. For Curry — who made the All-Star Game for a ninth time, all as a starter — it will be his third time going alone. Here are the full rosters for the 2023 All-Star Game, which takes place on Sunday, February 19 in Utah.

But what exactly constitutes defensive scheme versatility? Teams at the NBA level can’t be fooled easily; they have the knowhow and personnel to throw out counter after counter against every defensive scheme out there. One defensive scheme may momentarily stop them in their tracks, but it’ll only take a few possessions for them to diagnose the situation and adjust accordingly. The one thing the Warriors are so good at — and how a potential Steph Curry absence makes it impossible to execute

It was far and away the Warriors’ best combination, with an offense (127.7 ORTG) and defense (106.5 DRTG) that are both equivalent to league-best marks. Much like Green, Looney has become quite adept at taking advantage of negative space and turning it into a positive outcome. What happens instead is a Curry four-point play — a crucial bucket that helped the Warriors win on that day. Curry is essential to making these kinds of scenarios work — perhaps the only one who can unlock the full potential of the Warriors’ non-shooting frontcourt hubs. The possession starts out with a guard-guard ball screen between Curry and Thompson.

As always, we’re grading based on expectations for each player, with a “B” grade representing the average performance by that player. Draymond Green29 minutes, 6 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers, 3 fouls, 3-for-5 shooting, 0-for-1 threes, 60.0% TS, +20A clinic from Draymond. It felt like every shot the Spurs took was contested by Dray, and rebounded by Dray, resulting in a fastbreak led by Dray. In my eyes, Green is the most important player on the team for this five-game road trip. He was a huge difference maker in the first half as the Warriors turned a little lead into a blowout.

Warriors late comeback effort falls short in 128-123 loss to Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors dropped their first game of the season on Friday, losing 128-123 to the Denver Nuggets. Green was a force defensively, slowing down Nuggets star Nikola Jokić, and consistently pushing Golden State in transition. The Dubs cut the Nuggets lead to seven before they once again turned to their bench. Poole drew a foul, and made both free throws to cut the Nuggets lead back to five. Leading by five, the Nuggets decided to foul Golden State to keep them from getting a three.
