An automated track limits system was deployed to determine if drivers were going beyond the white line, but it ended up becoming a massive bone of contention from qualifying onwards. Jaguar driver Bird was particularly vocal about track limits in the immediate aftermath of qualifying, having felt that it had denied him a shot at pole position. “The way that they’ve positioned it, the car’s going one way and they’ve painted a line that goes the other way. “If you watch the replays the car is going one way [and] the track is going the other. “Just having a white line in all that space is a bit rubbish.

ARTA to join forces with Mugen for 2023 SUPER GT season

The obvious connection between ARTA and Mugen is lead driver Nojiri, who drives for the latter squad in Super Formula and is on the brink of securing a second title this year. Servus also helped run the Mugen Super Formula operation until the end of last season. Mugen’s own SUPER GT team is still searching for its first GT500 win since its return to the category in 2017. A switch from Yokohama to Dunlop tyres last year has not yielded the desired results and its relationship with Dunlop is set to end after this season. As part of its tie-up with Mugen and split from Servus, ARTA also looks set to discontinue its long-running GT300 project for the 2023 season.

Alonso: United States GP crash with Stroll was racing incident

Alonso and Stroll made contact at high-speed while going along the back straight during Sunday’s race at the Circuit of The Americas after the Aston Martin driver made a late defensive move to the left. Alonso was able to continue, while Stroll was eliminated from the race because of the contact. Alonso said over the radio after the crash that it was a “very late move”, but after seeing the stewards - who handed Stroll a three-place grid penalty for the next race in Mexico - he put it down as a racing incident. Alonso said that he and Stroll were “OK now in the stewards’ room” when discussing the incident, and that it was “more between our sporting directors than between us.”“I think we saw the incident with the same eyes,” he added. Finishing P7 [before the penalty] at the end with a car that was broken and we were last, it is quite a thing.”

Stenhouse ends 199-race winless streak with Daytona 500 win

“When (Kyle Busch) went to the bottom there I was able to push (Logano) and (Larson),” Stenhouse said of the first overtime. Stage 3Following the caution between Stages 2 and 3, most of the lead-lap cars all pit with Almirola first off pit road. The remainder of the field hit pit road on Lap 179 with Larson first off pit road. To start overtime, Busch led the way followed by Austin Dillon, Byron, Logano, Larson, Keselowski, Stenhouse and Buescher. Following the caution between Stages 1 and 2, all the lead-lap cars elected to pit with Preece first off pit road.
