After meeting the UAE president, Shehbaz Sharif returned to Islamabad. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Wednesday dropped clues that his country was planning to broaden its investment footprint in Pakistan, which needs foreign inflows to prop up its economy. “Be prepared, the UAE will make a huge investment in Pakistan,” the sources quoted the UAE president as saying during a cordial meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz at the airport.

‘All institutions played a role to get Pakistan removed from FATF grey list’

Sindh Minister for Information Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said Friday proved a blessed day for the nation as Pakistan was removed from the grey list of FATF. He said on Saturday that the credit goes to Foreign Minister and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his team for achieving the milestone. The Pakistan Army and other institutions played a crucial role in completion of all FATF tasks ahead of time. He said it was better to amend the laws of the land if it was necessary to extend extraordinary relief to the PTI chairman in every matter. He said the PTI chairman instead of conducting a long march should file a no-confidence motion against the government if he wanted early elections in the country.

‘Pakistan needs private sector investment to boost growth’

KARACHI: Business leaders stressed on collaborated and sustainable efforts for economic growth with a focus more on private sector investment in the country on Saturday, saying having deposits from the friendly countries were not a viable solution. They were speaking at the inaugural launch and dialogue of the Marketing Association of Pakistan (MAP) on a theme of ‘Imagining the Unimaginable'. He was of the view that Pakistan is still an attractive market for foreign investors even in the current situation. Maheen Rahman, CEO InfraZamin, stated that Pakistan was not contributing adequately to the world’s overall gross domestic product (GDP) with respect to the country’s population. “In this regard, investment in human capital is indispensable mainly in the areas of health, education and skilled development."

Ten more women universities join APWUC

Islamabad : The British Council and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have pledged to support ‘All Pakistan Women Universities Consortium’ (APWUC) in a meeting held here Saturday. The consortium was founded in October 2021 by three founding members including Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, Lahore College Women University and Government College Women University, Sialkot. The central idea of this consortium is to strengthen the collaboration among women universities to achieve excellence in higher education of women to enhance the women development and empowerment in Pakistan. In the meeting, ten more women universities have joined the consortium including Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur; Jinnah University for Women, Karachi; Government College for Women University, Faisalabad; Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur; University of Home Economics, Lahore; Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar; Women University, Mardan; Women University, Swabi; Khyber-Pakhtuknkhwa, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, Quetta and Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bagh. The Vice Chancellors from these universities signed the consortium document and pledged to support women higher education in Pakistan by sharing resources, finding grounds of mutual interests and future planning for women higher education.

“As the respondent has made false statements and incorrect declarations, therefore he has also committed the offence of corrupt practices defined under Sections 167 and 173 of the Elections Act, 2017, punishable under Section 174 of the Elections Act, 2017. But there will be other legal consequences for him if the high court and Supreme Court uphold the ECP order. The ECP could initiate legal proceedings on the allegations of corrupt practices in the district and sessions court. With his disqualification, Imran Khan has joined the league of disqualified former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. I know Imran Khan hates to be tagged with PML-N and PPP leaders but that is how it is.

Sindh, Centre agree to develop same curriculum for three subjects

He said that when he assumed charge of the education ministry he was surprised to hear the name of Single National Curriculum. He said the Sindh government was cooperating with the federal government to develop a joint curriculum. Later, the federal government issued another order that the Single National Curriculum was being introduced, and Sindh’s education minister must attend the meeting. It was not part of the constitution.” He said that Sindh has developed its curriculum for schoolchildren. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, while answering the questions, said that the federal government understood what the Sindh government said four years ago.
