Scotties beer gardens moving to Kamloops Curling Club

The City of Kamloops says it will now use the Kamloops Curling Club as a beer garden and entertainment venue for the duration of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts next February. “We value our relationships with all of our local sport organizations and regret the breakdown of communication that led to this point.”“We are happy to work with Canada Curling and the Kamloops Curling Club to find a solution that will accommodate this event and continue to support local youth. We look forward to an exceptional event.”Reached for comment Tuesday, KMHA Board Chair, Nathan Bosa, told NL News that the Scotties entertainment venue had been moved to the Kamloops Curling Club with no loss of ice time for the hockey association. Ron Nordin, the General Manager of the Kamloops Curling Club, was quoted as saying the Scotties is a significant event for both for the sport of curling and for the Kamloops economy. Outgoing mayor Ken Christian told NL News in January that the Scotties will bring with it a $5-million economic spinoff to the Kamloops economy.

The outgoing chief of police in Kamloops, soon to be one of Canada’s highest-ranking RCMP officers, has taken some not-so-subtle shots at the justice system in BC and beyond, while praising the City’s Community Safety Officer program. Syd Lecky, who is set to become the Chief Superintendent of the Northwest Territories, calls the CSO program “one of the best things to happen” over the last 4.5 years. of Kamloops RCMPHe explains that the RCMP’s working partnership with the CSO Division has taken a lot of pressure off of police officers. Lecky says he wants people to understand the ways in which changes in justice reform and case law in BC have affected policing in the province. “Seven arrests, for the same offense, released to appear in court, and has not yet shown up in court.”

Even more important, average Americans, properly worried about inflation, recession, and a bitterly divided political class, need to hear why it is important to weigh in, wholeheartedly and with vigor, on Kyiv’s side. When the two coincide, as they did during World War II and the Cold War, the United States can show remarkable perseverance. They need to hear how staunchness now, even in the face of nuclear threats, is infinitely better than a large-scale, possibly global war in a decade. Americans also need to hear a celebration not only of Ukrainian courage and tenacity, but of their skill.
