Propagandist Vladimir Solovyov told viewers on Russian state TV that the Kremlin should bomb the West to stop their armoured vehicles entering Ukraine. “There is a full-scale Third World War,” he told viewers, claiming that Nato countries supplying military equipment were “legitimate” targets for a military strike. Urging Germany to deliver Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv, he said: “The defeat of Ukraine may become a prelude to World War III.”The tension between the West and Russia is not the only potential flashpoint involving major powers. But he suggests US foreign policy and assessments of its rival might also be “overhyping the China threat in a way that could raise the risks of war”. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, analysts fear that “Moscow and Beijing will be driven closer as the United States casts both issues as a struggle between authoritarianism and democracy”, said The New York Times.
